How to sync hunting/scouting data with friend?
You guys that hunt and scout with friends, how do you share data between each other? I've tried Caltopo and honestly it's terrible for that. Ideally, I'd like something that would sync between each other without having to send a gps file back and forth.

Maybe try the geo-pak app? You’ll need the premium version but you can try it for free for a week to see if it would work for you. It’s not terribly expensive for the year.
I also believe ScoutLook has a feature that will let you share info as well.
Maybe google docs if you don’t want to go app based? Mark up a map, save it to google docs and the. You can both view and edit in real time?
Just a thought buddy. Good luck!

We have Garmin so we just use the wireless transfer feature.

I believe with HuntStand you can create a group, and share maps. I don't know how to do it, because I don't have any friends
I just use the free version.

HuntStand is perfect. I do it with each of my hunting buddies. Can pick whether or not you give access and then to what degree they have access (ie whether or nto they can add/delete icons).
Send me a pm if you decide to use it and need help figuring it out. Will be glad to help.

We usually just look at maps together when we get back to camp or home. Usually on a computer google earth pro these days...
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

That's exactly what a friend and I do with Caltopo. The only tricky part is securing our maps (you have to make it private manually) and we have to be signed into Google for the security to work.

Re: How to sync hunting/scouting data with friend?
My buddy has HuntStand and I use a handheld Garmin GPS, so we are exploring options as well. I think we are going to go the HuntStand route for sharing hunting strategies. We also keep an excel doc that highlights all the areas we hit up.

I like Caltopo ok if I'm sitting at a computer...but even then, when you start putting thousands of points in there, it starts getting clunky. Plus it's not ideal from a cell phone. It may be that we have to sync with something else and then import into our app of choice...not ideal but it's tough finding an app we like that has the features we like. Most of the ones we see have terrible aerials or they're not cache-able
