Great Lakes Brown Trout

Unread postby Singing Bridge » Mon Aug 02, 2010 12:25 pm

Sometimes the unexpected happens on the Great Lakes. The other day I was innocently trolling for Lake Huron walleyes with inline boards and harnesses. All of a sudden, the left outside board goes straight subsurface about three feet! I saw a big trout rocket into the air about three feet out of the water while doing a complete flip. "Steelhead!" I shouted out loud. This was followed by several line stripping runs and some serious bulldogging down deep on the walleye tackle. Finally the fish came to net and I saw it was a Brown. My net was way too small and we really had a time getting the fish into it. 12 pounds on the electronic scale. Grilled Brown trout- primo!
