hunting michigan public land

Unread postby BlackBeard » Mon Oct 23, 2017 12:08 pm

I hope this link works if it does not please let me know you should be able to navigate to a topo map and a satelite version up in the right hand corner there is a tab called select base layer. I have a ridge that follows a river for the past three years I have found consistant rubs and scrapes along this ridge. I drew a orange line on where i have found some sign I havn't walked much of the land so I have no idea as to where they might be coming from I also don't know what wind or how to get into my stand there is a hiking trail that follows along the ridge I don't want to ruin this spot but I need to start to get in there any help here would be appreciated thank you. I think hunting a north wind in the morning is a good idea it will cause the ridge to be the leeward side and the thermals would cause scent to rise I could and probably am completly wrong THANKS AGAIN

Forgot to add I am looking to shoot about anything in decent size I am not necisarely looking for the big mature buck I am trying to get my family and daughter involved in this and to keep their attention I need to be able to put them on deer. Of course I would love to hit the big old mature guy but I figured one step at a time

I can't see your map....

Welcome to The forum by the way.

From your description I would suggest relating direction of travel to bedding.
