Whats your go to seed blend for fall attraction? Im tired of spending a ton of $ on shipping and Im ready to start looking local. I really like real world harvest salad but have to purchase online. Anyone make their own blends at co op?

Winter rye and forage radish mixed together or forage oats and radishes. I’ve bought them from the local co op. Always planed the second half of august in Michigan

It’s been a lot of years since I foodplotted but when I planted the late season plots I found I had better luck with a single seed rather than mixing, primarily a brassica like purple top turnip or daikon radish. Beets were also good, as were certain cabbages. When I mixed with oats or anything else attractive the deer mowed it all down before the brassicas could grow to anything meaningful. Way cheaper at the co-op, and they carry what grows well locally.

Had good luck with Biologic Maximum, you can get a 9lbs bag from Amazon for around $60 and thats enough for an acre, good luck

Ive had great luck with Biologic winterbulbs and sugarbeets for late season food plots. Make sure your soil ph is good. Ive wasted a lot of $$ trying to plant in bad soil condition areas.

Rye and barley have always worked well for my fall plots. I’ve grown them mixed in with beans and brassicas and by themselves. Easy to grow and cheap. Local feed store Or co-op should carry what you need. One suggestion I’d give you is to make sure the rye is grain (cereal rye) not rye grass.

Anybody have luck with winter peas? I’ve heard mixed reviews on them.

Forage oats, red clover, and radishes. Will feed them into the spring.

100% go to local co-op and get “brown bag” oats, winter wheat and a cereal rye. You will save $ and it’ll grow just as well as bags with a pic of a deer on them and deer will eat it.

Agree with the others, buy local. We have FS Insight here. I bought a giant bag of winter rye for $20. It always germinates. I'm picking up Ladino clover locally as well, way cheaper. I planted an acre of corn in the spring, Round up ready, smaller bags from the co op, only $40, the corn came in awesome.
