Re: WI Bear Permits Soon
A point this year for me. Zone C must have been at least a one point draw.

Re: WI Bear Permits Soon
No tag for my wife. Called the dnr to get the skinny, says she didn't apply. Computer glitch but still no tag.
Zone B for this year's draw only 17 people with 10 points were selected for a kill tag. The rest 11 points or higher.
My wife now has 10 points. She won't get one next year either the way things are shaking out.
4000 additional applicants in zone B this year. I have officially given up on the dnr's management of the bear population in zone B.

Re: WI Bear Permits Soon
It's easier to draw on years that dogs go first because less bait sitters apply for a kill tag. Normally takes 8 points but at least one person up in bear camp last year drew a tag with 5 points.

Zone D is probably your best chance at a bruin and a big one at that.

It makes absolute no sense. I see 2-3 bears for every deer I see in the area around your house. You can get a buck tag every year, but you have to wait 10+ for a bear tag.
Oh yeah...one point for me.

It makes a lot of sense. Bears reproduce at quite a bit different rate than a deer does.

Yes, but the reproduction rate coupled with the mortality rates and the protection of sows with cubs during the hunting season does not justify a 10 vs. 1 draw cycle.
