With bears, yes. I still hang and hunt a lot, but I prefer pre-set stands set when baiting starts and in spots I walk past while baiting rather than where I would be forced to walk out of the norm.

Yes, and I purposfully walk past the trees I intend to hunt. A lot of thought goes into picking the right spot.

When I was guiding hunters one thing I had to try to watch for was hunters bringing their secret scent that their buddy gave them to use.
