Tucked in for the night on the Hogback. Been here for a few hours now enjoying the sights and smells of early fall. Had a shooter here at 4 am so good chance he'll swing by this evening. A little cool but very comfortable. No bugs. Steady NW wind. On and off rain. Love it out here.

Rained pretty good. Got wet. Heard a lot growling in the swamp. Had a big sow and a cub on the bait for about 10 minutes. Wind dropped to nothing, scent pooled, and the sow got enough wiff to bolt. Fun encounter at 12 yards. It'll be interesting to see how soon they come back tonight. No big boars. Relatively clean in and out.

Headlamp died to almost nothing on the way out. I harvested some burdock. Good times. Can't wait for the next hunt.

Nada for me. Got SOAKED in the rain. Highlight of the night was watching a porcupine sit up and eat an Uncrustable PB&J.

My wife is on call tomorrow night so no hunting until Saturday night. I'm going to continue to run baits and check cams in the morning. Cold front will start breaking up later this weekend.

Ran cams and bait this morning. Things definitely a little slower during the cold front but good enough for hunting. Frog Holler was the most active during the cold front. It took me a while to find the stump. Bear(s) had rolled it about 50 yards away. Pretty impressive since they rolled it over some old blow downs. Bear spun the cam so no pics. If the wind forecast stays, I'll be in Frog Holler on Saturday evening.
