Mike Your bait must be close to a rendezvous site. The little pups are out exploring when the adults aren't around. I had a new bait like last year. I had to drop it. They just overtook it. I had 6 pups on there and 4 adults. The adults would come around at night or early morning.

We have another bait like this but we shoot on an average of two bears a year off of it. This one is a new bear bait station. We will see if it continues, word is there's a monster bear on the property so I would like to keep it going and see if the big bear shows up after the breeding season.

You can tell the breeding season is winding down...bigger bears are showing up and hanging out longer at the bait stations. The first picture is a bear that loves touching the camera, he is not rough with it, he just sits there, touches, smells and looks at it, we have hours of pictures of him posing. Second picture is a nice bear, not the biggest but looks like he is a fighter, lots of scares on his body.

It was a long 3 1/2 days of baiting, fine tuning stands, broke down 3 wheeler fix, etc.... didn't even get done with what we had planned to do this week but then again this is part of being a black bear guide service, nothing ever goes as smooth as you would like it to...its part of the game.

First video is one of our most remote areas called the Sand River bait (Where Dewey shot his bear). This bear was shot by archery hunter two years ago on opening day. The hunters sites were loose sending his arrow low and to the left, hitting the bear in the front left leg causing him to loose his limb. This is the first time I have seen this bear since that incident.

Wow that's too bad the bear Dick shot lost his leg. Didn't think he hit him that hard. Thought he just grazed his paw. Getting to be a real nice sized bear.

I didn't think it was that bad but it doesn't take much to get a infection. Its the classic at the elbow amputee... wonder if they chew it off or does it just eventually fall off, does it happen while hibernation etc. We may never know!

Nasty Wolf... but it doesn't seen to spook the bears. I think it would be a different story if the whole pack was around.

This big bear (chase bait) has been hanging out all Spring and so far all Summer long. He sleeps and guards the bait. I assume he was chasing and breeding this year but never seen him with a sow. Nice noggin on him. I estimate him at 300plus lbs.
