Guessing a Bears Weight
Over the many years of guiding bear hunters one of the most asked questions is "how can I judge the size of a bear" with this in mind, these two bear pictures I am posting are bears shot in the past so I know the weights. Lets hear from you hunters and take a guess what these bears weighed! I will reveal the true weights later.

Re: Guessing a Bears Weight
I am really bad at judging bear.
Seen the pic on the left before but no idea what he weighed. I'm gonna say 450 for that one and 200 for the other one.
All I know is the bear on the left is BIG!
The smaller bear is from the future.....check out the trail cam date. Was his name The Terminator?

Re: Guessing a Bears Weight
425 and 230, total shot in the dark
The bear on the left needs some slimfast, and the bear on the right needs to start eating what the bear on the left is. Looking a little thin in the skin

Re: Guessing a Bears Weight
I think they are both about the same. One is really close to the camera and one is far away (and sitting down). Without better broadside pics from the same distance it is really hard to say. I would put them both at 300 lbs +-50lbs
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Re: Guessing a Bears Weight
I am rarely wrong on guessing a bear's weight. I will stick with my standard guess of 50-500lbs.

Dewey your funny....that's one of the most important issues when using a trail camera... make sure the time and dates are set correctly and ofcoarse turn the camera on!

Re: Guessing a Bears Weight
OK pictures can be very deceiving, smaller bears can look big and bigger bears can look small in different poses, angles, near or far away photos. Here are the weights 1) The bear on the left is one of the biggest bears NWO has on record. With only minutes left to hunt the hunter heard this bear grunting with each step while approaching from the left, one shot from his 300 mag brought this monster down. It took 15 guys taking turns to drag him out. he tipped the scale at 639lbs.
The second bear was shot by a 12 year old... although in the picture because of the way he is sitting he does not look big. The bears nickname was Wood Tick.. he tipped the scales at 528lbs.
