Re: 2016 Turkey line up...
A little late...was a good quick season..
May 10th I opted to try a new spot...I fished it in March or April and it was loaded with sign... supposed to storm at home and storms were coming quickly after day break in this area so I took my 870...
Called in a hen and her 3 boyfriends..
10.5" beard 1" spurs
Next day I could hunt was May 14th. It was a damp morning... raining off n on...but I was determined to fill my 2nd tag with the flintlock and put my 870 away for the season...
Rain and all I brought this bird in...
10.5" beard and 3/4" spurs.
First with a flintlock... actually the first bird I've killed over decoys..
I'm hooked on the flintlock now...the boxes of Magnum Blend I have will likely last me a long time...

Re: 2016 Turkey line up...
Redid my photo bucket...and got my fall bird so I will repost the pics...2016 was a great year for my turkey hunting!
Started off with this public land bird...
Off the top of my head 10.5" beard and 1 1/8th inch spurs
My 2nd spring tag I devoted to my flintlock turkey gun...I'm hooked and it'll be my primary turkey gun...
Another 10.5" beard and 1" spurs.
Fall season came...I don't devote time to fall birds unless my buck tag is filled...but I won't let one pass my stand once the season opens..
My first hunt that the fall season was open I didn't expect turkey in the area...boy I was mistaken lol...for about 4 hours I could here birds all around me..I never got eyes on them..mostly hens clucking and some keekees and assembly yelps...one "fight" broke out.. not sure what that was all about....
I knew there was a bearded hen in the flock from prior glassing in the general area..I am in a killer rut stand and didn't wanna jeopardize a chance at a buck by spooking a flock so I told myself a longbeard or possibly the bearded hen were then only exceptions..
330 or 4 I heard gobbler yelps...hmm
I patiently waited and really doubted they were going to cross the creek..small creek but any creek can be like the grand canyon to turkeys sometimes..and sounded like this was the case...
I heard wing flaps and grabbed my bow and stood up just Incase..
I spotted a black streak behind me in the tangled mess I'm hunting in...
I turned and got eyes on it...
"Man!! That's a LONG beard!!".
I'm only about 10ft off the ground and turkeys usually pick me off quickly unless I'm high or have good cover..I saw he was moving toward one very small hole in the brush..it wasn't very big...he scratched and bent down to feed..I swiftly drew and he stood up to scratch again...I let the arrow fly and he fell backwards..kicked his legs a few times and rolled over...
For the next 15mins a flock of 20 or so hens and young of the year fed by in my clearing infront of me...then 8 or 9 other longbeards right behind them!!
To my surprise they didnt pick me off...and apparently my bow is quiet! They were none the wiser that one of their own was laid out behind me...
My Halloween longbeard!
11 1/4" beard...one spur was missing completely..could see where it was or should be..that foot also had a big fat nub on the rear toe..the other spur was broke just shy of an inch..if he had good hooks they'd be around 1 1/8-1/4". Would be my 2nd best bird..
My 3rd fall bird with a bow...2nd fall longbeard..shot a few hens with the shotgun before I started bow hunting when I was younger...
