Was out this weekend scouting

Had some gobbling on the roost, birds hit the ground and hushed up

Still a couple weeks out until opening day.

Flocks are busted up but seemingly very hit and miss to locate.

Saw my first turkey tracks of the year on saturday. Have not been seeing or hearing many lately at least where I have access. I am sure they will come out of the woodwork soon like always.

I've been out listening and glassing a few times. We're 10 days out from the opener. I think the birds are a little ahead of normal, but still not very predictable just yet as food sources are changing. Flocks have broken up and re-aligned into a spring pattern. Mature gobblers are henned up bad.
Prior to this year, the biggest group of jakes we've ever known to use our land was 3. I have a group of 7 running around this year. I'm very excited about the future possibilities :L:

I was able to do some scouting yesterday evening.

I watched a flock that had 2 really nice gobblers and 3 satellite toms circling 15-20 hens

Thankfully these are on a tract I hunt. 9 days and counting.

i finally bumped into a flock this morning. Did not hear any gobbles but i did hear a hen yelping. Found a roost area full of feathers and droppings overlooking where I used to walk in and try to call. I have a plan now to get up behind them, between the roost and the private land

Only a month to go.

The birds are gobbling here in SE Ohio.

I heard several different groups of birds in the last 5 days.

I heard a tom gobbling on the roost this evening before dark.

It is going to be a long wait until April 24th.

Been hitting different spots the last week or so. Birds are starting to split up more and more everyday. Strutting has picked up and a few gobbles here and there but not alot.

Starting to get the itch!

NE Tenn is ripe and ready for the picking!! Come on Saturday morning!! :L:

On the board in Tennessee with a kamikaze 2 year old. Once every few years the turkey gods pity me and send one my way. And I'll take every one of them.

Photobucket isn't cooperating, so pics will come later.
