Anyone listening?

Unread postby Jdw » Mon Mar 30, 2020 5:01 am

SE Ohio.
I heard gobbling to thunder yesterday evening from 8:05-8:15 PM
First gobble this morning was 6:27AM.
They were really getting after it for a rainy morning.

I've been going out a couple of nights week the past 2 weeks. They haven't been extremely talkative, but I have heard a few in the same areas I always hear them so that's good. Hopefully one of them can follow the script this weekend for my daughter in the youth weekend.

Central WI scouting deer sign on Sunday I heard two different Toms pounding away mid-morning in the misty damp air. Saw another two with hens not far away but they were being quiet. All in a 400 yard triangle.

I drink my coffee every morning on the deck, listening to the Tom's waking up and saying hey girls!!

Got out this morning with a friend on a property he has permission on. We had about 5/6 turkeys gobbling. Had a hen roosted right above us. He ended up calling in 2 barred owls, and one of the owls went after the turkey and kicked her out of the tree she was in. I have never seen anything like it before really cool interaction. She must have been a young hen because she just seemed so messed up with us on the ground and the owls going crazy.
