Re: Live from the Field 2021
Did a little driving around the last couple days. Despite the cooler than average temps. I've been seeing a few birds. Mostly on private chunks. But some were on fields right next to public. Problem is my 1st tag isn't until May 12th!
Happiness is a large gutpile!!!!!!!

There’s private fields by me that I counted 11 strutting gobblers yesterday, but I’m starting the same as you Stash, Period D.

Out with a buddy right now, in some super thick woods. Are within 100 yds of two gobblers but can hear hens with them, they aren’t moving. Was out middle of the day today and was on a lone gobbler, he skirted me twice at 20-30yds. Two thick to see him much, much less send an arrow thru

Tough season is an understatement but I was finally able to sit to another bird this morning and had #2 down at 6:35.

Re: Live from the Field 2021
I’ve killed two so far this season.
The first was on 4/6 in Tennessee. Roosted the gobbler the night before and crawled in within 30 yards of him in the dark (closer than I intended). Killed him pretty much as soon as he hit the ground.
The second was 4/19 in WV. Had to make an aggressive move on him. Basically crawled within 60 yards and was able to pull him roughly 20 yards closer to me, and within sight.

Re: Live from the Field 2021
Went out scouting this morning and watched my target Tom on a mission barreling off public onto private. I thought he was trying to catch up to the main group, but he started strutting and went on the backside of a small rise in the picked corn field. Then, BOOOOM. He got taken out. There’s one or two more in the flock, but I’m week 4 unfortunately and will need to find some more birds to have an inventory in hopes that in 3 weeks I’ll still have one to go after.

Yeah, I’m periods D, E and F. Still possible, but might have quiet toms.
