Worked off a tip from 1 of my buddies and located 6 toms this morning. 3 were in private fields and 3 were in public river bottoms. The birds gobbled late, didn't start until 6:10 and were quiet by 6:30.
This past week noticed birds relating to green forage, either winter wheat or alphalfa. But that's what I'm seeing, others tell me they see most in fresh tilled fields.
Still seeing some good sized flocks (30+) but these birds are breaking up. Also have heard reports of breeding, even early as 2 weekends ago. Have not seen any for myself but did see a couple tom/hen pairs. Things are happening early this year.

Been traveling a lot, to Fond du lac for work and down to The Dells and down to SW part of the state the last few weeks and I haven't really seen much at all, kinda spooky quiet. Next weekend hitting the woods with my son for youth season, looking forward to it

Re: Scouting Report 04-02-10
I saw several flocks today between Milwaukee and Appleton with anywhere from about 5 to 20 turkeys, the smaller flocks appeared to have only 1 tom strutting while the largest flock of about 20 had 4 toms strutting at the same time. Some were in cut corn fields, some were in tilled fields.
