My blind works better off the boat but I think that I will finish up the season without it. For my last couple hunts I will go back to the simple setups and canoe. I put a lot more time in waterfowl this season and it’s been an odd one. The very warm December then the record floods. The local duck and geese are skittish and call shy. It’s the middle of January and the few migratory birds are in high gear heading south.

Same in IL. I can usually put some birds in the freezer after the rut, and the migration was goofy and all of the water had everything spread out and in flooded fields I couldn't get on :(

Little bit of duck porn for you fellow waterfowlers! Already can't wait till next season. My father got me into hunting by taking me duck hunting when I was 5 years old with my daisy red rider bb gun and its been a addiction ever since. This season was pretty successful up here, deffinetly hit and miss hunts. Sometimes they were on and other times you would sit for hours without seeing a single bird fly. Strange weather made for some strange hunting. All in all, bird counts this season were good for the saginaw bay so hopefully many good years ahead of us

Way to pile them up, Good shooting, I read that the warm December created some great hunting up north. I guess it kept the waterfowl up north and some folks had their best year. Hunters that stuck to traditional spots and methods may have had their worst year. You need to stay open minded and adapt, place yourself where the birds want to be. My problem was they never showed up but Indiana is hit and miss anyway.
I’m self-taught and been hunting off and on 10 or so years and its very addicting, It’s like a Jeep thing you wouldn’t understand!

Exactly! Biggest mistake I see guys make who are just getting into waterfowl is assumming that there gonna limit out because they have access to a spot that looks "killer". Ducks are just like bucks...the guys who are killing them consistently are the guys who scout and do there homework and put themselves where the birds want to be

Awesome stuff rem! As my kids get older I can definitely see a little more waterfowling and a little less buck chasing in my future. A little more action for the little ones.
