Big 4 points...
At 1st glance you might think these are a matching set, but they are not, in fact they were found miles from each other.
The one on the left is from a 8 point that I was hunting and never got. The one on the right I never saw the deer. That antler was all I ever saw of him. Interesting story, I was out scouting with John Gilles, the artist that made my shirt designs and I found 7 antlers and he found none And the best part was we were walking down a trail and I saw him step around something and looked down to see it was that big shed in Carols left hand!
I said "Hey John, you missed something" and he just about started crying saying he thought it was a stick.
So we get back to the truck and I can hardly carry my 6 sheds and he stops and starts telling me how he can't believe the eye I have for picking out sheds, and goes on and on. So while he is chattering ( he is real good at that ) I look down and see somthing. I said, John, I really hate to do this, but could you move your foot. Your standing on number 7.
Thats an honest to God true story, and every time I see John at deer shows and such he reminds me of that day.

Re: Big 4 points...
Great story Dan,it reminds me of one of mine.
I have a buddy that hunts but not too seriosly.I was talking to him about shed hunting. And he actually did,nt realize that deer shed their antlers every year. He asked me to go snowmobiling with him 1 weekend,as to which I am not too serious about doing either..He said if i went with him than he would let me do some shed hunting,if i showed him how as well. So we headed out on the snowmobiles along the river. We stopped to take a break and he says "So how do I find these sheds then?" So I tell him to walk along the woodline until you find a heavy trail. Then follow it into the woods and look for tines laying in the snow. And if you find 1 look for the other side on the opposite side of the trail. So he walks 20 feet into the woods and hollers is this one .And hold up a nice 4 point left side. And then says "Now I look on the other side of the trail for the left side?" and he walks mabey 10 feet on there lays the left side .He says wow how come you've only found 4 this year ? This is so easy.

Re: Big 4 points...
Dan, when are you going to post your rates for shed hunting?

Rates? You mean as in charging for shed hunting?
Out here we would find one antler per full day.
Would be kind of fun to have an antler hunt get together though, kind of a contest?

Good stuff.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
