Woke up and told myself I'd be a fair weather Turkey Hunter today. Well, I'm grabbing my rain gear now. Good luck everyone!

Me and my daughter today. Almost had a Tom right away in a.m. I had her calling for me. It was really skittish. Came & looked but wouldn't commit. May reposition if he roost' s in the same spot tomorrow. Going to go track one down soon.

A specific gobbler has been giving me fits. He is the boss of the ridge! Had him at 49 steps today deciding whether or not to shoot and he picked me out! I am gonna get him!! He's such a jerk.
In all seriousness, nothing beats a huge tailfan in the morning sun as hens yelp and jakes beat each other up.

Such an awesome morning. Started out with me watching a lil skunk mosey his way along in front of me. Then i watched about 7 different deer making their way along to different places. I got some awesome footage of 4 does jumping a fence and also got some nice footage of probably a 2.5 yr old buck with about 8 inches of main beams grown already. Then i had a hen turkey fly down and land right in front of my decoy. I am currently watching a big tom strutting with his 4 hens about 200 yds out in the field. He isnt paying any attention to my lone hen decoy. I am wishing i brought the turkey fan out with me. I will try on friday morning again hopefully. Just sitting and having my coffee. Skeeters were really thick, i was brushing them off like snow on a windshield but now they are totally gone since i got the thermacell going. Hoping the birds leave the field soon so i dont spook them when i get up to leave. Happy hump day, hunting beasts

Cool Mike!!

Got out for 6 hours. Actual sit time watching a dusting bowl. Left at 7:30 cause my gut told me a good storm was coming. Got home to severe thunder storm warnings. Saw 0. Heard 0.

But I saw a new bird to me. Some kind of oriole I think. Alot more black on the head and down the shoulders and wings. Alot smaller too. It lit on a branch 7' away!!!!

Also had a humming bird check out a honeysuckle at 4'!!!!

Despite the wind a great day in the woods.

I wasnt expecting the tom to charge at me that fast and before i could get my gun up he was at 3 steps! Bang...missed and he flew off so fast ddnt even attempt a follow up. Im super bummed now but wow how exciting

Rats briss!! Yeah the vids I've watched they come quick once they see the fan!!!

I didn't get out til noon. Saw a jake in a hay field right next to some public. Close to the road. Public is just a tiny piece across the road from the bigger chunk. Got in as quick as I could, and as close as I dared. It had started raining at noon too. Was setup by 1:00. Called louder and more frequent because of the wind and rain. Nothing. Gave up at 5:00. Still raining and soaked to the bone. Even with my rain gear. Just couldn't sit still anymore.

Good news is some birds were in a different field that may mean they could end up roosted close to where I can get on public. Bad news is I'll never be able to get going early in the morning. But I'm still gonna give it a go. Without the rain maybe they'll get the wanderlust and head my way. Inspired by a few soft calls!!! In the afternoon. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:
