Hey everyone, I'm Matt from the Bear Hunting Podcast.

Thanks Dan for coming on the podcast! It was a lot of fun. We covered some really good, high level bear hunting tactics for sure.

A little background on me. I'm the host of the Bear Hunting Podcast. I'm a bear hunting fanatic from the UP of Michigan. I'm all about hunting DIY. I mainly hunt in the UP, but I also have hunted DIY in Ontario, and this year I'm doing my first MN bear hunt.

Started the podcast up a few months ago. I've got a bunch of other episodes out too. Hope you all enjoy it.

I liked the podcast good info, you're right there's not a ton of info about bears out there. I got a couple questions
1. Dan when you vary your baits, do you mix on a daily basis (5 gallons of bread, 5 gallons of meat etc) or bread this time something else next time?
2. How many gallons would you use if you baited daily?
3. Where can I find the rest of the bear podcasts?

3. Where can I find the rest of the bear podcast? Go back to the top of this thread and click onto Dans PodCast interview, scroll down a little bit and the rest of the PodCast interviews are posted on the right side, I think there are only 3 of them so far. Hope this helps.

I put out a variety every time I bait... I try not to bait every day, for sure in Minnesota where I can put more out. The bears do not like human scent and activity and you can see the drop off in activity every time I bait. There is a shy period there for about 20 to 40 hours when the hits go down after baiting. Best case for us is hunting 3 days after we bait. That seemed to be the peak... In Wisconsin we are limited to 10 gallons of bait so that's not feasible because bears can eat 10 gallons in one day. So then I do bait every day and try to time my baiting to mornings and midday to get the bears to hit in the evening.

I appreciate you asking me to be on the bear podcast... It was fun, and a refreshing change from everybody asking about deer hunting. You should post your future podcasts here, lots of die hard DIY guys here would see them. Welcome to the BEAST! 8-)

The podcast with Floyd was great. He makes the best stuff in open market IMHO and his philosophy is spot on (also IMHO).

Great podcast Dan. Gonna have to listen to more in the future. I really hope to be able to do this before I die. Even with all of the hard work it sounds like a blast.

Bear Magnum welcome to the hunting beast
