Ever Eat A Yote?

Unread postby csoult » Thu Jun 22, 2017 11:27 am

Well I'm going coyote hunting this weekend and I'm just not comfortable killing something I'm not gonna eat. So if I get one I'm gonna eat it.

Has anyone tried them, and how do they taste?

Every one I've ever been around stunk to high heaven. I understand not wanting to waste something you kill, but I've never been hungry enough to eat a coyote.

One of the episodes of MeatEater had yotes on it. They ate it and seemed to enjoy it

I think they tolerated it if my memory serves...

I'll pass the coyote unless I find myself starving, let us know if you get diarrhea, distemper, or something else equally fun.

Oh dude, wow! That is the most radical idea I've heard in a long while. I really admire your spirit! I'm sure if you boil the meat or put it in the crock pot long enough with a good gravy or tangy bbq sauce it will be tolerable.

Please please keep us updated! I'm rooting for ya!

I really respect the fact that you wanna eat a dog... I've never killed a ypte before. But with the right receipe I'm sure coyote would taste great, especially If you fast a couple days before you eat it.

Along time ago I seen Thee Knight and Hales eating crow after a crow hunt. ,,, look online, they gotta receipe for EVERYTHING now a days.

I kill roaches, earwigs, ticks, and numerous other insects. I'm not eating them either. :puke-front:

I ate dog, when I was stationed in Asia it wasn't bad I've had worse. They did it a spicy jerky style.

The members of the Lewis and Clark expedition preferred dog over dried salmon. But never read about them or the natives eating coyote. Mountain lion is good.

You'll probably want to give yourself a few months between skinning/butchering and eating it. So the stench is a more distant memory!!!!!
