Do older bears prefer certain foods?
I'm reading the book "black bear hunting" by Richard P Smith and in the baiting chapter he says: "Although black bear of all sizes eat beaver, this food item seems to be especially favoured by adult males". So I'm wondering if bears start preferring certain types of foods as they mature similar to humans where kids prefer the taste of candy etc. but appreciate things like stews and fatty meats as they get older. What do you guys think?

FWIW I still like candy.
Seems to me like every bear loves beaver. It's like crack cocaine to a bear.

Edit: I'm a complete newbie to hunting. I Have a binder that I'm taking notes of hunting beast stuff and from this book. I'm literally going to go to that section and write BEAVER-it's like crack cocaine to a bear

Not to take anything away from Richard's book, it's a good one, but you also need this book and DVD: http://www.bucksbullsbears.com/buy-stuff/

FWIW:
Don't forget a honey burn, or bacon burn. Different recipes include jello and marsh mellows. Google is your friend here. I have never used it as it isn't legal here so check your local laws?
Trappers can be a good source for the beaver carcass.

I prefer them well cared for. I’m pretty particular about my beavers. I guess that where bears and I are different.
...last one I promise.

a good bait setup is like downtown on a Saturday night. if there's beaver there bears will come from all around just like people. Thanks for the links Bernie, I enjoy your YouTube videos by the way.
