Polished up the muzzleloader and ready to give it these next 4 days. Gonna penetrate DEEP into SE Wis public marsh this aft. Will probably stand in water...gonna be an adventure, but I suspect this could be real good tonight. Wind favorable.

Re: **LIVE FROM THE FIELD - 2017**
Decided to bring my muzzleloader again today for one last gun hunt. On the way in or maybe even last night busting through the cattails I lost my ram rod. Didn’t notice it till I almost got to my tree to set up today. Hope I don’t need to reload.
Good thing I was still loaded since yesterday with primer removed of course. I jinxed myself for not hunting with my bow this weekend. Oh well the muzzleloader is a single shot anyway so I better make it count.
Hunting a totally different area than yesterday but very similar stuff. Flooded timber and cattails where deer get pushed off the mainland.
On my way in I found this rub. Very fresh and know it wasn’t here last week.
My view for the afternoon. It’s like spokes on a wheels and all trails lead to me. Lot of history in this spot. Killed my 2 biggest bucks within 200 yards of here and saw 3 of my top 5 largest ever seen from stand.

Re: **LIVE FROM THE FIELD - 2017**
Ended up seeing a doe and two fawns land night pretty far away. This mornings sit i didn't see anything but midday scouting saw a few deer.
This is my setup for tonight and will be my final opportunity to kill a buck this season. At least the view aint bad.

Good luck to everyone out.
I'm setup with my muzzle loader on the edge of a large bedding area. I've had good encounters here in the past.

Re: **LIVE FROM THE FIELD - 2017**
Last day of having to wear orange besides the holiday antlerless week. Not sure which I dislike the most, wearing orange or a t-shirt in December because it’s mid 70’s. Set up on power line clearing overgrown in ragweed. Cruising trail to my south at 15 yards and bedding across the clearing. Good spot to observe but not a lot of shot options. Really more interested in seeing what’s coming out of bedding. Had a deer blow when I was walking in but I think it just got nervous more than anything.
Teaching is only demonstrating that it is possible.... Learning is making it possible for yourself.

Nothing for me. Big ole’ goose egg this weekend.
Back at it again in 2 weeks after the antlerless hunt. In the meantime I will be scouting. I have the last 2 weeks of the year off from work and will be hunting hard. Hoping for cold and snow by then.

Re: **LIVE FROM THE FIELD - 2017**
Nothing in daylight. While packing up my stand I heard deer coming from the expected bedding. They saw my light I think and held up in the brush.
Felt like October weather tonight.

Nothing this evening. Stopped halfway out to my intended destination ..sign got real good... but, nothing seen or heard. Sure enjoyed the rising "supermoon" on the way home.
Three more smokepole days left, but the weather is not gonna be nice here tomorrow.

Jumped one on the way to the stand or before you set the stand?

I killed a big 15pt one year because I lost my ramrod and had to go back the next day to look for it
