Public Land Buck From the Ground

Unread postby HISBounty » Tue Dec 03, 2019 11:32 am

I made it a goal this season to kill a mature public land buck. I scouted an area out durning muzzleloader season and put eyes on a good buck miles back in the National Forest. I planned my off days this year around cold fronts. I’ve always hunted a lot on the ground while hunting with a gun and this year was no different. I love to run and gun and love being at ground level. Day light broke and I wasn’t quite back to my target area so I started to still hunt the rest of the way. I heard this buck well before I put eyes on him and my ears are what helped me kill this buck. Check out the Video I am new to filming and this is my first season doing it. I have learned a lot and had tons of fun. Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE

Congrats! Cool looking rack!

How do like using a sled compared to normal dragging through the woods or even a cart?
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

This is my first year using it and I can’t believe the difference. It’s hands down one of my favorite pieces of equipment. I put all my gear in it while in the truck so I can slide it out if needed. Once the deer is in it rides there home and there is no mess in the bed. Then I leave it under while I skin and all the mess goes in the sled and not my building floor. I’ve never used a cart so I can’t compare but the sleds are cheap and worth every penny. I won’t go too many trips without it.

The sleds are awesome. I was able to take a 300 lb public land black bear last week. (Story to come). My father in law and I were able to drag him out by ourselves. It was just shy of a 1 mile drag. There is no way a cart would have worked for us and pulling on the ground was not happening with 2 people. On the down hill they basically pull you out of the woods.
