NWO Bear Camp 2013
The Wisconsin bear season is (bait sitters Zone D Sept 11) upon us. This is a guided hunt, it has been one of the hottest summers for baiting, the bugs are extremely bad, last week was the most enjoyable baiting week I have had, very cool temps in the morning with highs only in the low 70s. The berries, choke cherries, black berries (just a few left) blue berries are all dried up and gone, hardly any acorns (not like last year), the wild apple trees, well, the apples are hanging like grapes. Once again we have some special guests with special needs arriving in camp for there very first bear hunt. We have one hunter who is a past Drury Dream Season team winner, he will be hunting on the ground, in a blind made out of natural foliage with his long bow at 13 yards, this will be interesting. It took a few weeks for me to find a perfect spot for him. This year I have decided to use mostly hollow logs for bait stations, this way I can switch the stand from a archery hunter to a rifle hunter if need be. Once again I have some monster bears coming in. Some of the hunters will have to put there woodsman skills to the test, some areas are very remote one wrong turn and I will have to send the search party out.
For those that are interested I will send updates and pictures. Talk soon

Looking forward to the reports and stories...
For those that don't know, me and my son James have both hunted in Mikes camp... Mike runs a great operation with a high success rate.

Re: NWO Bear Camp 2013
Monday 9-9-2013. After baiting finished setting up bear camp, after mostly baiting with the same bait for the last 2 months I went and picked up 4 more barrels of new bear bait, thought I would entice the bears even more. The new bait consists of a variety of nuts, also bought 6 cases of maple syrup. Three bear hunters showed up today along with my camp cook and his wife. Thought maybe my baits on County land would slow down some once the dog bear hunters started running, my baits haven't skipped a beat, did find a very fresh gut pile on a old logging road only a quarter mile from one of my bait stations. Camp will be full by days end "Tuesday".

Re: NWO Bear Camp 2013
Tuesday 9-10-2013. Had one hunter cancel due to a bad vehicle accident, all other hunters in camp now. Great group of guys. Showed most hunters there bait stations, all bait stations continue to be devoured. BlackSquirell (photo of Dan on the left) is pumped up.
