WI zone C with hunt247365 2017
Pulled a tag for this year again and really pumped to be able to bear hunt this fall again. Not to mention as much work baiting through the summer can be I still love it almost as much as the hunt itself. Also will be helping a youth out this year as well.
Mixed a few barrels of bait up last week that consists of cones, blueberry cake mix, skittles, marshmallows (the kind that come in lucky charms), blueberry granola, popcorn and sunflower seeds. Will see how they like this mix. Will also be making up a few barrels of cones, icecream taco cones, cookies, vanilla flavored almonds. Will use different pie fillings, peanut butter, maple syrup with it as well. Will go heavy with nuts as the season gets closer.
Started 3 baits last Thur and will check on Wed and start 2 more baits. Will keep posting as the summer goes.

Did check baits last week and had 2 out of 3 hit. The one bait that wasn't hit was a new site so will def be giving that spot a little time to see if I can get that spot going as it seems like it should be a good spot. The site I call the Trout pond was hit by one nice size bear and it was there for two nights and outside of that just coons. The spot I call the tick stand had 2 small bears that hit it in less then 24hrs....can't help but think that they maybe from the sow and 2 cubs that were at the bait a lot last year. Then I did start up one more bait that I call the Skeeter site and it def will keep that name for good reason.
I checked the Skeeter site today and was happy to see that I have 4 bears on the bait. One small guy, 1 200lber and a couple nice ones.

I would guess a rag for scent. I don't think it's legal but I've seen a fair amount of them in the woods.

It is a rag for scent. From my understanding it dosent say anything about not being able to use a rag or pad for scent. If Im reading the reg wrong or not seeing it I will take them out right away. In the reg it talkes about how bait needs to be coverd and recovered when checked but liquid scent is not included in that but does count towards your 10gal limit of bait. Again if Im wrong in my understanding I will take them out right away.
