Pretty cool animal; we don't see too many greys around here either.
And after observing one for a few hours from my treestand a couple years ago, I can understand why.

It was almost spooky how he ghosted in and out of the cover, as I was also watching a big buck holding a locked-down doe all afternoon in the same thicket the fox was hunting in.

He definitely knew that the deer were there, and I think he knew I was, too.

I'd be watching him sitting there a few yards from my tree, then glance over to watch the deer for a second or two.
When I'd look back he was as gone as if he had vanished in a puff of smoke, only to just as suddenly appear again on the other side of the tree.
Then vanish again, seemingly into thin air.

Stealthy as a bobcat but probably more "shy" if that makes sense.
