Trip to the Cape - lots big fish!
So it was our annual trip to Cape Cod. Dear friends live there and big stripers. Bit bummed because the first couple days we were "winded" out. Very rough. Sunday was our first day out. And it did not take long to get into some good fish. Landed one on my flyrod...funtimes. We absolutely were killing them on topwater plugs. It was a ball. We moved and got into some really good fish. BUT my buddy had prior commitments so we had to roll. Just about killed me because the fish were hammering when we left them.
Monday, it was a commercial day. So I jumped on with a buddy ...picked me up at 2:15 and we were on the water by 3am. It was a 40-50 mile ride to the end of the cape -- we were there at 4:30ish. The topwater bite started to go off just after 6am. WHAT A BLAST! The deal is...there is no picture taking and no breaks lol. Its all about catching your allowed fish for the day. And I don't keep any fish. It was chaotic with boats everywhere...bout the only thing I did not care for. We caught the boat limit...average weight was 21.6# -- again, 98% of these fish were caught on pencil poppers. So we had some 15-18# fish and some 30# fish. Got back to the dock at about noon.
July 4th was spent watching fireworks from the beach in front of a campfire. Lots of great memories.

We have friends in Harwich/ Chatham area. So its a 50 mile boat ride across the bay coming out of Sesuit or 27 miles coming through the cuts out of Ryder. Just gets hairy with the tides.
Fishing has all been hammering at the Race and the Golf Ball. You guys are pretty close right there in Wellfleet. My wife and kids went swimming in there at the Cape Cod National Seashore.

We are heading up for the last week of the month, staying in Dennis. Going to grab a charter. Can't wait.

You want to fish with couple hardcore guys, let me know. Not sure if you have any charters lined up or not.

100% agree. Most preferred way to fish. And they are super aggressive. I fished 1 set of trebles and fish would blow up popper again and again. I missed a ton of fish BUT it was easier dealing with 1 set of trebles. 2 sets of trebles, missed way less fish. BUT I also meant more foul hooks.

Nice work Maine. It's always fun getting on fish, especially when then tug and pull drag. Sucks the weather didn't cooperate.
