Ice fishing

Unread postby Chuck B » Tue Jan 04, 2022 2:55 am

Me and the kids did some ice fishing in the Brainerd, MN area this past weekend. Had some fun and caught some good fish until the temps got to -28 degrees, things slowed down then!

Nice looking fish. Wanted to fish over the weekend but didn't get the wheelhouse set up yet and didn't wanna set up portable in -30 to -40 windchill. That eye looks close to the magical 30 inch mark!
It only takes 15 seconds for the hunt of a lifetime.

LOW is so fun. Only been there once but itching to go back. My kids are heavily involved in basketball and wrestling tho, so don’t think it’s in the cards this year.

Have you made it to LOW before?

It was 27 inches. Just a healthy fat hog tho. Catch and release of course with that size.

That’s a biggen! I was doing pretty good on walleyes until last night. Cold weather shut them down. Wife wants to go so we’ll try again tonight!

I fished there a couple of days this summer, but i have never been there ice fishing. Thinking of trying a trip up in early March or so.
