Seems like an easy fix.

Any limitations to what it can detect?

Just detects metal. Obviously lead will give you the most weight for its size because of its density.

But composite materials, rocks or putty could be added to beat the metal detectors. Cheaters might always find a way.

Yup. X-ray seems like the best option. Not saying every fish that comes in should be but for sure the top finishers. Heck NASCAR even holds top finishing cars for after race inspections. Unfortunately anytime huge money is involved stuff like this needs to be done to keep people honest. Just the fact that these guys thought they could get away with something so blatant shows just how easy it is to do if nobody is checking.

Almost all the old musky records are in question because so much of this was going on back then. Musky can hold a lot of weight. The Hayward area was real famous for this kinda stuff. The old timers will tell you all about it. Cheaters looking for notoriety will do whatever it takes.

There's audio of him talking about cheating on his wife at a hotel on another video.

Also bragging about how “winners win…..that’s what they do”

That kind of arrogance isn’t surprising at all with cheaters. That’s how they justify it in their own minds.

Now he’ll lose all that money plus half of everything he owns after his wife takes him to the cleaners.

There’s a good MeatEater article about this. It said the guys were suspected of cheating for quite some time. Out of nowhere they started dominating, but not fishing the really big money tournaments

That article also talked about people cheating using ice cubes. Metal detector isn’t much good there.

That Cominsky character is from the town I used to live in and where one of my good friends still lives. They are facing criminal charges at this point and deservedly so. A lot of times walleye weighed in at these tourneys are donated to food banks. These jokers repeatedly refused to in the past. Wonder why?!

What a couple of losers. I could only imagine what these bums are like in every other aspect of life. Good for the guy that cut them open.

As big as this has blown up, NetFlix will probably come along and make a movie about them and they'll get rich.
