Rock river small mouth bass...
Went down to the Rock river in Watertown at Tivoli island yesterday and in about 2 hours caught 6 smallies under the damn on nightcrawlers. We were just fun fishing and did not put a lot of effort into it.

Re: Rock river small mouth bass...
With all this flooding lately I thought I would take another run over to Watertown and see if the small mouth and walleyes were still around, and kind hoping to catch a big channel cat. When I got there there was a guy just getting ready to leave and he said he had just caught his personal best small mouth, couldn't help but notice the hundreds off bass tourny patches all over his vest. He said it was 23 inches. He released it before I got there.
He also said there was a guy fishing there when he got there and he had a whole stringer of channel cats including a 15 pounder... He also said the guy and him caught a bunch of small walleyes...
I did not catch anything of any size, but caught a few smallies and a couple small walleye. I hooked into something big, but it ripped the hook before I could get it to surface...

I lost one you would of been really proud of Magic!!! I almost had it up to me when it dropped off. It was just holding onto the worm and dropped off as I pulled it out of the water. Didn't even know I had a fish, but my worm looked a little shiny. At 1st I thought maybe I snagged somebody's rapala.
But nope! It was a real live walleye almost as long as my 1/2 a crawler!!! Wish I coulda got a pic, but the big ones always seem to get away!

If you ever get up my way I'll take you to my secret cat and smallmouth spot. In the last 4 1/2 hours of fishing I boated 70 fish.

Re: Rock river small mouth bass...
Assuming by "Sinko", he means, "Senko" or Yamasenko. There plastic worms and the DO work great, BUT, they are not a river bait... Calm days and still water are the best conditions as you use zero weight other than the weight of the worm and the hook in your presentation. Senko fishing requires a lot of line watching, so use fireline or some sort of floating line with good visibility and do a SLOWWWW rise and drop retrieve... dynamite!
