This is a bittersweet time of year for me. It was usually a time filled with anticipation. Out in Montana you usually have had a few cool mornings by now. Those cool mornings would call to me. Soon the bulls would be bugling.
But alas I'm stuck here in Wisconsin. So to all of you busy getting ready to head west. A couple of you are already living out there! Good luck!!! Shoot straight! Have fun! Be safe!
And darn it share some pics!!!!!!!

It was in the low 60’s when I left the house to head to work. I had an extra bounce in my step with the morning feeling of fall. It won’t be long now!!

Yep. We have had high 40’s low 50’s recently in the mountains. Some leaves starting to turn and fall. Starting to feel right.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

No western trip for me this year. Instead... the slews and mosquitoes are calling my name...
Good luck to those gettin’ after ‘em in the near future! Regardless of how your season goes, remember to have fun out there.

Heading to WY on Friday 8/30. Going to be camping with a buddy for the week and chasing mule deer.
It looks very green for this time of year where we're headed. Looking forward to it.

Re: It's that time of year!!!
We spent almost two weeks in Wyoming chasing mule deer during the special archery season. The weather varied wildly, from highs in the low 80s to the low 40s, depending on the day. We also had a decent amount of rain, and the mountains were greener and wetter than I've ever seen them this time of year.
My buddy got his first buck, a smaller than average 3x4 in full velvet. I put him in one of my guaranteed to see a buck spots and he got the first of three he saw that evening.
I came home empty handed. I had plenty of close calls, though, including the very last night when I had a big fork heading straight to me but darted off less than 100 yards away. It was a cold, windy, rainy evening and the wind wasn't good.
Saw more elk than I've ever seen, including a group of four bulls fighting one morning and another bigger bull about 50 yards from camp. Overall it was a good trip...just needed more time.
