Got the bow out for the first time since my indoor league ended in April. Not much, but around 25 arrows at 30 yards. The kids after school activities keep me busy 4 nights a week, right now, so not much time to shoot. Once we get to June my afternoons will free up some and i can start shooting more and stretch out the distance.

I'm out hiking with a weighted pack 4 nights a week now and when i get back home i go and shoot 15 arrows at 40 yards. In July I'll up the weight and the distance i hike and move back to 50 yards when i shoot.

Nice, good luck. I drew a November mule deer hunt in the same unit this year i’m looking forward too.

I archery hunted it for deer in 2018, saw plenty elk sign, but i don’t think i actually saw any elk. I think most of them were probably higher up than I was though. I really could only offer generic advice that I’m sure you’ve figured out about the unit already. It’s beautiful country for sure. Huge elevation range from north to south.

Majority of the elk are in the northern half of the unit. I've got a few places e scouted right now and I've gotten a few places to check out from some others who have hunted there in the past.
I'll keep an eye out for deer and report back anything i find

A month till i head out. Dialed into 60 yards, backpacking and using the stairclimber 4 days a week. Got the calls out and been practicing a little on them. Still need to get a couple more game bags and a new set of trekking poles, otherwise i should be set on the gear i need.
Wife decided to come along for the first few days of season. She's got a motel room booked ( she's not about roughing it) and looking for some things for her to check out in her drive down and back. She was gonna fly down and rent a car but there's none available. She doesn't want me to lose any hunting time driving to and from the airport. She wants to experience the elk rut, and see what it's all about.

16 hours of driving by myself was just to much, so I stopped and got a motel room for the night.
