Squirrel stew tonight. I'm currently working on the 18 pack

Looks good! I haven’t yet mastered the ways of cooking squirrels. Last couple I killed I wrapped in bacon and tried to grill indirectly low/slow. Still tougher than Chinese algebra

I've been getting into it more and more this year. I think I've been out three times now, but man those suckers sure disappear when you're trying to get into position for a shot!

I'm a big fan of squirrel hunting. My favorite recipe is squirrel, rice and gravy. I like to pre-soak the squirrels in a water, salt and vinegar brine for 24 hours and then pressure cook them in the instant pot with beef broth. Comes out very tender. Separate the meat, make gravy out of the stock and serve over wild rice. It's quite amazing!

Squirrel is one of two animals that will raise your core body temperature so if your ever in a survival situation that's good to know. I haven't had Squirrel in at least 25 years but I used to eat them all fall when I was a kid. Now adays the wife will literally throw up if I start frying some up, it took me years to get her to eat venison.

I’m an avid squirrel hunter. The area I currently live in has what I believe are hybrids of fox and grey squirrels. They are bigger than greys, but not fox squirrels. And some have a nice rusty tinge to their pelt.
If anyone wants some tips for cooking these buggers up pm me. Tender, and delicious.

Got off work this morning at 5, went home and slept a couple hours and got up and went to the woods. Connected on 4, missed 2, called it a day.[img][img]
