Heck I wish I could just find a shed. Dang rats and tree rats eat them before you can find them up here in the pine thicket's of North Louisiana.

Re: Might be a record shed!!!
I found one of those little spikes once too!
Funny thing was, I found it in a fresh popple clear cut.
If you've walked through a fresh clear cut, you know it's white branches and sticks everywhere!
I couldn't believe I picked that 4" of antler out among all that trash, but somehow I did!
You know you got a dandy when the whole thing fits into your back pocket.... LOL.

Re: Might be a record shed!!!
On my trail in my woods in the back yard , I found a busted tine.. It was in the summer but didnt have any fuzz on it so it was last years. No doubt a young coyote or fox found it and carried it off. It stayed there on the trail for a few weeks and then it was gone. The tine was about 4" long.

On a couple of occasions I have seen coyotes carrying antlers... One Time I was hunting with Dave and he shot a big buck we were targeting that day. We never recovered that deer, but Dave told me that 10 minutes before he shot the buck a coyote was walking on the hill with a stick in its mouth like a dog playing fetch... I asked him if he was sure it wasn't a bone or an antler and he said "Hmmm, maybe?" so on our way out we went up on that hill and right where the coyote was there was a big shed antler and even stranger, it was off of the buck we were targeting that Dave shot... We did eventually find that buck but not until weeks after he shot it.

Re: Might be a record shed!!!
Dang cool story. My little niece was running around in my sisters back yard the other day and my sis found a big shed . The little 6 yr . old is now trying to find the other side. I would post it but I dont have permission from parents. It was about 5 mil. west of West Bend, Wis. Who ever though 50 yrs. ago there would be so many deer around Waukesha co. one day I was running a trap line before school ( I went to Sussex Hamilton) and saw a big buck.. I went to school and told my buddies and they all said I was dreaming.. No one believed me.

Re: Might be a record shed!!!
You all wait for them to shed those tiny antlers and then find them? I usually shoot first and then I see my trophy antlers.
