I’d like to get out but the deer are still yarded here and I don’t want to put any pressure on them. We’ve had a tough winter with a lot of snow. Thankfully we are getting warmer and melting some snow so they can get to food.

Right after the season ended, I put out a food pile on a piece of property I started leasing in mid December. Figured I'd be able to get a good inventory to see what is in the area...especially with food being extremely limited due to the lack of acorns this year.

They hammered the food. I had cameras on it and I knew nearly all of the bucks were dropped...the last week I just have 1 little spike still packing.

Figured I'd take advantage of this crazy weather and go looking today. Only had about 2 hours so I kinda randomly ran around trying to grab anything obvious.

No giants... But 4 sheds in 2 hours is my best day. No matches so there's at least 4 more to find. I know of a few other racked bucks I didn't find either side of yet either so should have a fair number more to find...and I suspect most will be in the same area. The deer were concentrated in the area since mid December or earlier so I put the food right in the core.

Pulled the last of my cams last week and looked around for past sheds of Grande’s. Managed to find the match right to his ‘19 set. About 30 yards from where I found his left back in September last year. No telling how many times I’ve walked by it.

Got a question for Chad Gus 715. You mentioned in the past, in the "where do you find most of your sheds post" that some years its food, some its bedding, and some its the trails between. Do you think it could have to do with the quality of the food and distances between in that particular year? If food is a little less abundant seems they would spend more time in the feeding area or in betweens, whereas years when food is maybe a little more abundant they would spend less time in feeding areas and more in beds. Just wondering if you happen to notice a trend with that in mind.

And almost tripped over these today on the edge of a cedar swamp. Right on the water line. Laying on top of each other. Nuts! Last years but absolute girth dogs

We’re about to get dumped on. Will be a while before I can get out. Not a huge deal as I only find 1-2 sheds most years anyway
