I tried a steelhead replica

Unread postby oldrank » Sun Jun 12, 2022 1:45 pm

Just about done with this. I used the same system I did for the pike replica. I feel she turned out well. Makes me want to go catch some. This is a representation of a 34" hen my cousin caught a few years ago. I am giving the fish to him when I finish. Got a little mouth work n back fin work to do but it's pretty close to done. I think I found my new hobby.

Got my brown trout in this week and have a bluegill and small mouth bass coming in. It's cool to be able to get some fish done I caught over the years but never got them mounted.

Still learning alot of stuff but it's so fun to me. One pic without flash one with.

Here she is.

Nice, do you have to buy forms and then paint them.

This is what I started with.

Yes, the forms I used come in very rough. I have to do alot of reshaping with bondo. Lots of cutting, grinding and sanding.
I ordered some that were completely finished also. The finished ones are detailed and basically just need paint. They are alot more expensive though.
