Would you mount this buck?

Unread postby RadioHunter » Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:58 am

Shot this handsome public land 8 point second day of firearms season in northern Michigan. This is my biggest deer to date over the last 20 years of hunting thanks to beast techniques. I’m on the fence if I should shoulder mount or European mount this buck. He is a pretty boy in my opinion, which is making me consider a shoulder.

What would you do?

If it was my biggest buck I would mount it. It's a great accomplishment that will last a lifetime.

He is a nice buck, only you can make that decision. 20 years ago i would have. Now i just do a diy European mount and save the money. My main concern is it looks like your in my boat! I'm going out to the barn to see if mine is still here!

If you “kind of” want to mount him, I’d do it. I have 2 bucks shoulder mounted that I went back and forth on. I mounted them and don’t regret it.

I also have a few that I went back and forth on, did euro’s… and now wish I would have just ponied up the cash.

Heck yeah you should mount it. I shoulder mounted by first decent buck even though he was barely 90”. That hunt was a great memory and I’m reminded by it every single time I look at it on the wall. Never regretted that decision for a second.

Thanks everyone, I think I will get a mount. It was a pretty special hunt and the cap to a great season. One for the books

Same, and about the same size. Only buck to date. And I'm stoked every time I look at him, which is usually at least once a day because he's in my office

If it was a fun memorable hunt and it makes you proud 100% mount it. Worst case, cape it out boil the skull and save the cape for a bit and think it over.
