Taste of the good life
Got a invite from a good friend to accompany him to his deer lease for 1.5 days of hunting. Considering it’s dang near a 8 hr drive didn’t feel that is much time. He sold me with I can shoot a buck and a doe. I was in!
Arrived yesterday with about 2 hrs of daylight left. He rushed to his stand and I told him I’m just gonna use these few hours to find me a great spot for tomorrow and put all my eggs in one basket.
I went straight for the most difficult to access thick spot on the place. I call it a mountain but some might refer to it as a hill. Sucker was thick and nasty littered with rubs. I picked me out a spot for the next days wind on the leeward side along a cedar transition for the morning hunt.
Well b4 it got good and light I caught movement coming my way. I realized right away with only one day to hunt this is deff a shooter for me. I watched him tumble in sight. I gave him about a half hour b4 I walked up and put my hands on him. Couldn’t have been happier with him.
Being that it was just 730 I decided to just keep on hunting. My buddy said he climbs down at 930 and would pick me up at the fork in the road at 10. I saw 2 more younger bucks shortly after. Then a lone doe stepped out and I couldn’t resist. By 830 I was all out of tags for this place and had a morning to remember.
Then the real work began as I had to get these deer off this mountain close to a road. Wasn’t the easiest haul but I managed. When buddy pulled up the look on his face was priceless as he said he didn’t see squat. He is hunting this evening then we are headed out. I can’t wait to get home.
So do beast tactics work on light pressured private? You can decide for yourself. All I’m saying is in 1 hour of daylight I was out of tags and took the best buck the guy has seen taken off the place. Was a fun fun morning. Whitetail Wishes everyone!

Hunting smart is always the right call. Every time I get rundown on public a sit on some private with better numbers is a good reminder how well this approach works!
