2021 backyard 9

Unread postby Jsmitty3 » Thu Sep 30, 2021 2:48 pm

I was able to punch my tag on a great 9 pointer last night over a mock scrape. I had been watching a bachelor group all summer in a bean field next to my house with 9 bucks in it and 4 bucks over 140 which is not real common in my area of Wisconsin. I was pretty pumped but I can only hunt a 5 acre backyard across the street from there. So I kept tabs on them and prepared all my other properties to hunt. As the season dawned the neighbor shot the second biggest buck. I focused on other properties and had some great hunts but nothing that I really wanted. I got a few pictures of the bachelor group one day in the yard so I hung up a vine and pissed in the ground and a few days later had the right wind and he came out around 630 and worked right towards the scrape and gave me a perfect 19 yard shot. It wasn’t quite a beast style hang and hunt but proper planning and being advantageous and disciplined is some lessons learned on this forum. As I was dropping of my cape I ran into Dan Infalt and we swapped buck stories and compared racks (his was bigger) lol but it was cool to talk he was gracious and wanted to check my deer out good luck to everyone this fall

That’s a great buck, man!

Great job getting on him. It’s the creativity and on-your-feet thinking that gets those things done, so great job!

Whereabouts are you located? Probably not too far from me if you bumped into Dan…

Awesome job.

Congrats, sounds like it was worth the effort to do the mock scrape.
