Awesome! Well done, sir! What are the minimum requirements needed when looking for a kayak to transport deer like this? I obviously want to be safe but want to be realistic on the cost as well!

I’m small, I clock in at 5’7 and 160 pounds.

This is a 10 ft pelican maxim 100. I think it retails for $400 and is rated at 300 pounds. It worked really well for me, but if this buck was much bigger It really would have been tough. I really just needed the kayak to cross the river. I also crossed with my stand Fanny pack and rifle. After taking pics with the deer I made a trip back to truck to drop stand Fanny pack and rifle.

River is 4-5ft deep now and has a solid current to it. I had a cell phone I didn’t want soaked but if I had to swim along the buck on the side of the kayak I probably could have gone that route but it wouldn’t have been fun.

This was a still shot of a video I made.

I’ve got a flatback discovery old town but it’s a 100 pound canoe. I could have made it work but it’s not fun to drag through the woods.

This was a kayak I borrowed from a friend it’s decent but if I did this in January when getting wet could get you hypothermia quickly, I’d definitely want my canoe and would forego the trouble of dragging it for the safety of not taking a swim.
