My brother shot 2 at the same spot yesterday, so I just thought what the heck take my daughter out, it’s easy access and drag so made for a fun hunt. She was the bigger of the 2 that came in.

Congrats!

Good luck Lockdown. Sounds like a recipe for some early season success. Those big boys really seem to like those big early season fronts.

Good luck lockdown, hope you smash a giant.

I Checked out a spot that I was interested in but found very little sign. So I head over to where I shot my buck last year and found alot more sign over here. Also changed my tactics up and decided to take out the saddle today instead of the beast stand. See what happens.

Thanks for the well wishes! I’m gonna need it.

Two things.

1) I’m about guaranteed to get rained on.

2) the NW wind is more like WNW.

The trail downwind of me curves just in time to give me a good shot angle before he gets my wind. WNW means I’d only be offered a quartering to shot, and I’m not risking it.

The wind cooperates at times, but if it doesn’t fix itself by 7:00 I’m going to have to sneak over to a ground spot. I can’t see his bedding if I move so that’s a strike against that. I also have to give up an important trail. Which is an even bigger strike.

Gonna give it some thought and decide what to do in a bit.

It rained pretty hard for a bit there but the wind did straiten out for me. So that was a relief.

I ended up seeing 5, 1 small buck and one unidentified. Every single deer was running. I think that was due to the high winds. They were high enough they probably canceled out my good cold front activity.

It will probably be a few days before I get out again.

5 mile mountain loop. Hit an area me and Tbunao found on a bear hunt this spring that had tons of sign from last year. Unfortunately, that's all it had this year...last years sign. Saw a few whitetails. Elk hunting is hard, or I'm terrible at it...probably both.
