Re: Swamp cheat code
This is great article by Mark Kenyon. I thought it's really cool that he adds quotes from Mario, Curtis Zabel, and Garrett Prahl. All guys who have learned from Dan and The Beast.

Re: Swamp cheat code
Man I’d love the opportunity to hunt MI ‘swamps’ regularly.
Def a good read.

Totally agree. I enjoy listening to Mark’s podcast. Has a fellow Michigan hunter... it’s pretty cool to listen in to see how Mark has changed in just the last few years from a lot of information from Dan, or guys who have learned from Dan...

Thanks for sharing this on here and your fb page. Dan your teaching spread so far across this country. And will be passing on your information for generations. Or until the real scent killer comes out but let’s be real... in order to do that you have to peak your skin off... of that makes me think of a meme... give me 10 minutes and check the Facebook page. lol.

Re: Swamp cheat code
I gotta admit that I didn’t recognize the name of Curtis Zabel. But I recognized him as the Behind The Bow guy when I saw some info on him.
I ran into this interview that was done by Andy May (RidgeRunner7) that people might find as an interesting addendum on the original article that Dan posted.

Re: Swamp cheat code
I believe its the study that is referenced, but they essentially said which is in the article that swamp bucks dont die. I believe they said, young bucks dont get killed in swamps and old bucks dont get killed in swamps and its because young bucks dont live in swamps therefore they cant get killed there while big bucks dont get killed in swamps because they live in them and no its safe.

Re: Swamp cheat code
Not to hijack the thread or anything as the article is great, but did all these people who made a name for themselves on the hunting beast just move over to Facebook and Instagram? Or did they just learn all they felt they could learn on the forum and move on? Many of those guys crabz, garret, Andy May, JoeRE they all were great contributors and now nothing. Also what happened to JeffG, & James? I fell like I am missing stuff because I don’t do Facebook and Instagram.

I have wondered the same thing. My assumption is some guys don’t want all the attention and try to limit the media exposure. From what I’ve seen, guys get good and start killin mature bucks consistently. Then they appear on a podcast or YouTube video. Then their name is exposed to the hunting community and everyone wants a piece of their time. Then they decide that they don’t like all the attention and go back to a quiet family life. Now that has nothing to do with participation on the beast forum, but Maybe they feel that they have nothing else to contribute here. There is also the possibility that they are just too busy.

Re: Swamp cheat code
Definitely a really good article. I look forwards to hitting the swamps this fall, last year I looked like a chicken with my head cut off running around these bottomlands. Just got the swamp dvd and I've already picked up a lot on what I did wrong/right.
