Good stuff, congrats to the both of you!!
I may have missed it but was there any autopsy report, where was the hit and how did it kill the buck?

Great video, the story was well told. Might have been a blessing that the branch covered the shot. Had it been more visible, you may have been discouraged enough to not pick up the trail.
Congrats!

He had pictures of the broadhead damage to the bottom of the heart... I think it must have been moving around and eventually cut thru... I could not use the pics in the video per Youtubes rules.

Jacob mentioned it scoring around 130.
What did it actually score?
I'm still learning how to score bucks i would have figured 138-145 area?
Either way definitely a great buck to be proud of and was a awesome stand setup.

Cool story and video. Stinks that the turd that picked his bow up didn’t turn it in, but very cool that the bow shop lent him a bow for the season good way to earn respect and sell a new bow later on.

Most of us can probably relate to that awful feeling of a poor blood trail and knowing we're probably not going to find the deer. How awesome for Jacob that they were able to find it - the excitement in the video is infectious! Thanks Dan for sharing some of these stories from other hunters.

Great video on not letting setbacks (rather large ones the bone fracture and lost bow) keep you from the end goal. I also loved his coaches quote "it's a great opportunity to get tougher" gonna have to remember that one.
It only takes 15 seconds for the hunt of a lifetime.

The arrow was on a great path but it was disturbed when the deer turned to face me more as the arrow was flying. The arrow hit the inside edge of the humerus near where it joins with the scapula. A piece of the humerus was chipped off by the broadhead and the arrow deflected down. The broadhead went between two ribs (clipping one) and wedged its point on the inside of the deer’s sternum just below its heart. As the deer moved, the broadhead continued to poke and cut the heart, killing the deer. There was a mark on the heart that was indicative of the arrow puncturing it, but for how far it traveled this was likely caused by the heart moving as the deer ran and not the arrow hitting it outright. The broadhead was wedged firmly into the sternum so it wasn’t moving around as the deer ran.

I absolutely agree that that was a blessing. I was almost convinced to try another spot the next morning as the conditions (wind, temp, pressure, time of year) were aligned perfectly for the first time that season. My friends made sure I stayed true to what I always taught them and their help and encouragement is 90% of the reason why I found this buck.
