What did it actually score?

I'm still learning how to score bucks i would have figured 138-145 area?

Either way definitely a great buck to be proud of and was a awesome stand setup.

It definitely could be around there but I try to underestimate as much as possible. It had a 19” inside spread (probably around 21-22” if you measured outside to outside of the antlers) if that helps at all. I haven’t had it scored yet but it doesn’t matter a lot to me. That being said, I’ll score it once it’s back from the taxidermist (likely mid to late august as he’s booked up and does fantastic work). That’s a skill I would like to improve upon as well.

Thanks as well for the compliments on the setup! My friend Alex (guy in the “World’s Okayest Hunter” shirt) shot his first buck out of that stand exactly a week later off of the same pattern. It was a 4 1/2-5 1/2 year old, gnarly-tined 8 point

Thank you very much! Couldn’t be happier with the hunt and the great friends I have. Still to this day I am more emotional about my friend crying as he called me say “We did it man, we got him.” Than finding my own buck. Just beautiful moments all around.

Good luck this season!!!

Thank you! You replied to my “year in a buck bedding area” trail cam story post and brought out the idea of the bedding area possibly being doe bedding. After further consideration and scouting I found that it was in doe bedding with buck bedding around 100 yards from there (it was on the same property that I shot this buck). You can actually see the buck that was taken in this video on the pictures from that camera! I used that example to pattern another doe bedding area in which I took this buck on.

I’ll absolutely be going to them for every bowhunting need in the future. Gave them a bunch of venison from this buck as well!

How awesome for Jacob that they were able to find it - the excitement in the video is infectious! Thanks Dan for sharing some of these stories from other hunters.

Thanks Dave! One of the most gratifying experiences of my life.

Swamp Stache wrote:Great video on not letting setbacks (rather large ones the bone fracture and lost bow) keep you from the end goal. I also loved his coaches quote "it's a great opportunity to get tougher" gonna have to remember that one.

That quote may haunt my dreams (countless practices being broken down to your final ounce of will and energy and hearing that yelled in your ear) but it is undeniably perfect. My coach told me this multiple times when talking about my collarbone and bow.
