Setup ?’s
Still figuring out my system and getting better, main pain point is getting my bow up the tree.
I set my first stick, hang the remaining two off my linesman’s belt loops, stand on my back with the pack on it.
Set my sticks, take the pack straps off, hook carabiner hanging off my small backpack to my linesman’s belt loop-> hang stand.
Issue is I had always tied paracord to my cam and stuffed the remaining cord into a pouch on my backpack, never fails to become a tangled mess (or fall out). If I do manage to not get it tangled, after the bow is up I wrap the cord nicely and put it back in the backpack= tangled clusterf@ck rats nest again.
There’s got to be a better way, was hoping to see if anyone had a particular retractable rope or something else that works?
Thanks all!

Re: Setup ?’s
I like my Doyle’s Gear hoist. It’s a bit bulky but worth the extra space not having to deal with tangled ropes anymore. Clips right on my pack or saddle. Could even mount right on your stand if you want. Worth every penny to me. Of course I covered mine in Stealth Strips.

Re: Setup ?’s
I used standard paracord for 15+ years and the end result was 9 times out of 10 a tangled mess like u described. Switched to duck decoy cord last year (compliments of pk) best thing since sliced bread!

I have been happy with a grappling hook style pull up. Can be tricky in windy conditions but not terrible.

How are you wrapping the paracord? I use paracord as well and when I use a figure 8 wrap I have no problem with tangles

Got to go to Doyles Gear hoist,
Stand on my back as I’m climbing.
Beast sticks hung from hooks off the saddle as I climb.
Don’t bring a backpack or anything anymore. Just the ball very minimalist. If I can’t fit it in one of my cargo pockets it doesn’t come with.

I can’t speak for the OP but I did a fast wrap around 2 fingers. I discovered knots a retard with ADHD couldn’t pull off.

That looks interesting and much cheaper, I’ll head to the hardware store and give it a try, thank you!

Re: Setup ?’s
I tried the doyles hoist and hated it. I switched to larger rope like 6mm and use a figure 8 wrap and haven’t had a tangle since.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Same here
I figure 8 around my thumb and pinkie and have zero problems. I also add a 5” piece of fuel line to hold while letting paracord slip through while lowering like the third hand archery rope has

Re: Setup ?’s
Just bite the bullet and get yourself a Doyle’s. I keep mine attached to the back of my saddle at all times so it’s always there and ready to go. Mine is like 10 years old now and have had zero issues. It just works flawlessly, quietly, and 100% tangle free.
It’s just so freaking nice to not have to deal with tangled paracord at all.

Re: Setup ?’s
I'm using a nylon strap I think came with a ladder stand. Carabiner on each end, one clips to my pouch on my saddle, the other I hook on my backpack top loop and has a nite ize gear tie to wrap around my bow. I pull up my pack and bow together. It works fine for me.
