Had a good hunt this morning.
Setup in a swamp bottom with some falling acorns on the bench above me.

About 8.20 had bucks coming in to eat.

The issue was they came from the road and from downwind.

The first buck was a small 6 point he got to 35 yards and ate.
The second was a 2 year old 9 point he was about 45 yards.

Their was another shooter behind them and I never got a good look at him about 70 yards away.

The bucks smelled me and ran off was a very exciting morning.

On my way to lunch I saw in the car 5 does 2 fawns and a large buck. They are moving really good today.

In the tree this afternoon where a swamp bottom meets a bench with a big bedding thicket infront of me. Should be in for a good afternoon.

Did walk up on a 4 foot long black racer on my way to the tree.

Several huge rubs in here on hardwoods and scrapes at this afternoons location.

Due to some wind swirling I'm nosebleed high like 27 feet in the beast stand.

Had 2 big 8 points pretty sure they are 4 year old twins racks were near identical come out of bedding and they made no sound were ontop of me before I realized I quickly judged 30 and shot over his back. He was 21 yards.

I hadn't practiced shooting a bow at that height about 27 feet. I usually practice and hunt about 15 feet . No excuses I just plain missed.

They locked up immediately when they got down below me.
They had to have hit my falling thermal.

About 10 minutes later a 3 year old 8 point walked 5 yards under me. And I shot right at dark. I was pretty sure I hit him but all I found was some white hair no blood or sign on arrow.

I'm pretty bummed out to scout so hard and miss my shot.
I hit a target in the backyard so well but missed at crunch time.

The 4th buck was a small 4 point.

Crazy to see 4 bucks come out of bedding one after the next.
Three of them being shooters.

Seen more deer on the woods today then I think I saw all last season. Bucks were really moving today.

I am happy I got to see deer i had multiple opportunities today and I just blew it. Tomorrow is a new day.

Kinda ashamed to shoot at two bucks on the same day and miss both. Its embarrassing.

Please don't be ashamed. That's why they call it "hunting" and not "killing" haha. I saw a doe and several turkeys. Also saw several hunters. Is it busy out where you're at?

Went into a spot at 4am this morning that I've had a cam for months.

Still can't believe how many bucks I saw yesterday pretty sure that is the most I have ever seen in a day.

Has no fresh oaks or fresh rubs, scrapes sign i grabbed the cam and headed the long walk back to the car.

In previous years I would've just sat it anyway but if im not on fresh oaks or sign then the sit is low percentage. I'll scout, hunt this morning for fresh activity. If im not where the deer are im not in the game.

Trying to move on from yesterday's Rollercoaster. Not going to let it effect me mentally. This afternoon I'm going right back to that area to get that buck. I plan on being in a different tree and edge 50 yards closer to bedding . I'm thinking they will be on alert when they pass that spot again so ill select a different ambush.. if I don't kill today ill let the area sit for 4-6 weeks.

This year I really want to focus on high percentage sits and hunt smarter then I have in previous years. It may mean covering more ground or night scouting if need be. I plan on spot checking rub lines from previous years each month so I know exactly when they open up and what time frame.

I intend to hunt differently this year then I ever have before.
