Poll: What date do you consider to be the last day of "Early season"?
Is tomorrow the last day of "early season" in your reality ?
If not what date do you consider to be the last day of early season ?
Just curious.

How about Nov 19th?
Last day before WI gun season starts. To me that day before has always meant the last day of early season. Years back that day was closed so the Thursday before was the end.

I picked Oct. 14th because ML season started on 16th.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

I can't vote, I think in Wisconsin the early season movement ends (depending on pressure) after a couple of weeks, sometimes less. After that you need to get super tight to bedding.

I can’t put an exact day on it. So much depends on weather, what the deer behavior is, what latitude, pressure, etc.

I chose Oct 14. I slowly start gearing a little bit more toward rut tactics at this point. Muzzleloader bear and antlerless deer begins in mid October in my state, so I kind of hit the reset button at this time with the increased pressure.

October 1st here in my area of Michigan. After the 5th becomes mid season for me. I lay pretty low and only hunt if I am on one in a pattern.

Re: Poll: What date do you consider to be the last day of "Early season"?
In MN and WI the 3rd weekend after opener is end of Early Season.
Early season to me is when you can still catch bucks on their summer strolls.
After that testosterone, food and pressure affects their travel patterns and range. Bach groups start thinning, and inner timber food and browse confounds easy patterning.
I would never consider any part of the rut to be “Early Season”.
To each their own…..obviously.

I understand about the gun season. But when is your major leaf drop every year? At that point, most styles or techniques will no longer be "early season" methods.
You don't have to be the best, just do your best.

Just going by old terminology that’s been around since I was a kid.
WI deer seasons were:
1)Early Bow Season
2)Gun Season
3)Muzzleloader Season
4)Late Bow Season
Obviously things have changed these days with extra antlerless seasons and a bow season that never really closes anymore running right through gun season. Most of us that have been around awhile still stick to the old terminology. You know what they say about old people and change? It’s true.
If we were breaking the season down by different phases well then I would do it completely different but the question kinda left that open for interpretation.

Maybe I should have rephrased this question.. When does a big early season buck become a "Rut Buck" ????????
