I was wondering about all of the ear tags, my guess would be from Texas or Carolinas.

Weird genes as far as body size. I assumed it was somewhere in the south. Must be high fence due to the tags I’d assume

pretty interesting. I definitely have difficulty judging the score and body size while actually hunting. Looking at pictures it's not hard to guestimate a fairly accurate score, but from 30+ yards away through the brush and in the heat of the moment, not very easy for me. Maybe it's also a lack of experience, since this is only my 3rd season hunting and I only have shot at three antlered bucks. But I can say that looking through that makes me very proud of the bucks I have on my wall. Can any of you judge approximate body weight from pictures? I've taken two big mature deer, but neither were ever weighed. All I know is I believe their bodies were bigger than any of the deer on that link.

And 115” claimed as 130’s. My general rule is subtract 20” from whatever people claim. Unless I know they know how to score em

At the beginning of the article section. It says Oklahoma!!! So definitely a smaller subspecies then us midwesterners and even those from the northeast see!!!! I believe these would be the Prairie subspecies!! If I'm remembering correctly!!

You nailed it. I've seen and heard it so many times. I've even been guilty of it myself!

Thanks for sharing this! I guess some of the bucks are not as big as I thought. But hunting on the ground and being less then 10yds they look huge!

The only way I judge a deer is by my heart rate. Some little bucks have really tripped my trigger while some decent bucks don’t do anything for me.
I rely on that initial sighting and what it does to me, then it’s time to go.
To me, that’s what it is all about- that moment.
When you know, you know
