Something like 23 -24 bucks dunno it was alot.
Not all were on public.lbl has a history of nice bucks. Pretty cool to see one.

One was top 3 biggest Ive ever seen.
Really pumped for season.

Saw my first hard antlered buck this morning a two year old 8 about as wide as the ears. Saw several great bucks for my area. Amazing day.

Gotta love that overhead moon.

You hunting next weekend?

Yeah I'll be hunting but it's only cwd public lands open.
So I can't hunt any of the big ones I've found in lbl, sandy. Seen some shooters up at obion but I'm not sure if its cwd or not obion,Weakley counties.

I have nothing I'm after in unit cwd as far as i know. Dunno if they added obion ,weakley this year or not . I've pretty much given up on wmas in unit cwd. Natchez ,ghost ,wolf Tully I used to hunt alot but cwd has messed it up.

I may hunt horns bluff if it's open In unit cwd.

I keep moving further east every year.

Look this guy up. He sounds like he wants some company.

If there's a state record on public it's likely to come from lbl,
Or Catoosa. I haven't found anything state record size that's for sure. I'm sure that their are alot of public deer bigger then any I've located this year.

The buck I saw today appears about average for the trophies that have came from. Lbl. If you look at some of lbls previous bucks killed the area has produced quite a few good deer.

Kentucky side of lbl has also taken some nice bucks.

Hopefully that guy doesn’t regret doing that podcast. Made me cringe listening to him though, lol. But I’m just paranoid, I’m sure nobody has looked into where he hunts.

Listening to his podcast.
He comes across almost as a joke I'm not so sure it's legit. Might have just made it up to be on a podcast.

It's possible a huge buck may exist in Gibson,Dyer ,Lauderdale, Crockett ,haywood counties. It certainly has plenty of food and river bottoms with fair genetics.

Keep in mind there's probably 70k acres of land that fit that description if you count wmas and nwrs. There's alot of land to hunt if you get the special permits.

Chances are if he is truthful it's in a special permit area.

Been out for a bike ride on local public today. And ya never know what to expect.
A power line right of way is getting the full buzz job. That modified deer activity AS WELL as human traffic. Guys will have easy access in new direction and areas.

Moved a bunch of cameras this evening. Tried to get them on some white oaks close to bedding.

Got some big beautiful bucks on camera, gonna be a long couple weeks to see if they stick around. Even longer 40 days until I get to hunt.

I’ve been out a few times the last few weeks. Got some camera work done on Friday which includes my first card pull of the year. The sign going through that area looked pretty good. Definitely more use than last year. There’s a corn field on the back side and last time that was corn there was a bunch of deer back there. That was 4-5 years ago.

My camera is right on the public private line and it appears that 3-4 days before I swapped cards a good buck moved in. He has two options for bedding back there. I also got a really blurry pic of a buck I think I know from last year. Last fall he was around a lot early then disappeared. I hunted him twice then NADA! ;) That’s how it goes…

So things are looking VERY promising for that area.

I put a cam on the apple tree too. No sign of the drop tine on the other cam mentioned above, but if he’s around the apple tree cam will get him. The tree is producing this year so that was good to see!

I text the neighbor and he said he hadn’t seen him either. I’ll be observing this area in the near future.

Velvet hunt starts in the morning.
Temp in the 90s heat index over 100.
Going to be brutal but I'll be in a tree.

I expect deer will be near water..
