Any idea how much more growth to expect off this guy? Pic taken 5 days ago. About a month to a month and a half of growth left before they start to harden.

Any points that are bulbed on the ends are still growing. I'd say his brow tines are about what they're going to be and everything else will put some inches on. That's my unscientific opinion anyway.
It only takes 15 seconds for the hunt of a lifetime.

Hung a cell cam pretty deep on a piece of public thinking I’d be the only one using it. 3 different guys scouting in one week. That particular area may be a bust.

Checked one in another part of public land today. Missed the buck by about fifteen minutes. The bear, despite hanging my camera with squirrel steps, was messing with it everyday. Also worked on one-stick sets while in the woods.

I’ve had one day on two of my cams where someone has crossed through the area. Not bad overall.

Like running into them in public, generally very nice people. The woods…not my favorite.

Got a really cool video of a raccoon chasing off a coyote. The coon was all hunched up running stuff legged at him.

Reminds me of a video I saw of a guy shooting a coyote chasing a deer and the deer, sensing a tipping of the scales, proceeds to chase and stomp the coyote.

Re: 2022 scouting thread
Scouted a river bottom on public today. Mainly to determine how to access where I wanted to hunt. I scouted this some last spring and found a good bedding area just off the river. Looks like if the water level is lower like it is now I'll be able to walk down the river bank on opposite side of where I'll hunt and then wade across the river right to a tree and climb. I thought the river was mucky bottom, but I found out it's actually kinda sandy. I tested it out to make sure I could wade across.
This guy wanted to know what I was doing in the river:
The area is definitely getting used by deer. Lots of tracks, mostly doe and fawn but I did see a couple big tracks too. I found patches of the famous duck potato, or arrowhead, atleast I think that's what it is:
Lots of these flowers down there too, not sure if deer eat them or not though:
Between the water, oaks, browse, and secure bedding, I think this may be a good early season spot.

Re: 2022 scouting thread
Been cool watching bachelor groups this summer. There’s a cluster of apple trees that attracts every buck within a sq mile at one spot I hunt.
One bachelor group has 5 bucks that are 2-4 yrs old, the other has 7 or 8 that are 1-2 years old and one buck that is 5+. It’s an interesting dynamic.
They each travel a half mile to the apples. One group from the West the other from the East.
Looks like a lot of nights they are there around the same time but the group with the big old dude gets to eat first. The bucks in the other group won’t go near him. The ones in his group don’t really get too close to him either. Funny to watch.
