Shed Hunting on Public Land

I just saw how a shed hunter won 10,000 dollars I Utah. He was on a treasure hunt, from a promotional market, by a private company on selling an app.

They planted several different type sheds and you had to solve a riddle to find them.

Does this seem strange or is it me?
